#1–Trying Something New

This is my second time trying to write this post. My first attempt was on October 10, 2024. The blog I wrote then endured many revisions and staring contests, but the more I shaped and reshaped it, the more I felt myself separating from the things I was writing. So here I am again, nine months later, typing out an introductory blog post with the hopes that this one will actually make it onto my site.

Pushing myself to try new things is why I decided to start a website. I'm a master of making up excuses to avoid doing things, and my all-time favorite is saying, “I'll do it in the morning,” but we all know what that really means. I'm finding myself doing this a lot more often these days, which is strange because as a kid there was next to nothing that could stop me from starting a project the moment the idea entered my mind. For instance, making a fort out of the tree branches my dad cut off the sycamore in our backyard. Now, however, doing anything creative feels almost like a chore, like another task to check off my Google Calendar. And that perspective, paired with my perfectionism, means that I rarely ever end up doing any of the things I say I want to do.

My hope is that this website will help me overcome my excuse-making and reignite the spark of creativity and imagination that once drove me to action. There is a lot to do in this lifetime and a lot I have yet to try, so I don't want to miss anything.
